Postcard from Lowestoft

After leaving Dordrecht, things seemed to have a momentum of their own.  Lovely weather and meeting up with the Lowestoft Cruising Club summer cruise meant that we had less time or inclination for blog writing!  We took plenty of pictures though!

Brief synopsis : motored to Willemstad, glorious sail past our planned stop and on to Kats, lovely sail down the Veerse Meer to meet LCC boats, night at Goes, sail across to Zierikzee, very hot sail with cruising chute down Oosterschelde and back to Colijnsplaat, Roompot marina to wait for good day to cross North Sea, 3am start and superb crossing meant we arrived at Lowestoft in time for the 7pm bridge.

Amazing street - perfect for the hot weather

Old sluice control
Flowery welcome

Introduction to the village of Kats - what a bizarre place, in a cosy kind of way!

Knitted bollard cover

Foam flowers hanging in tree

Lots of  cosy bollards
Hanging on a gate

Even the church joined in

That lock isn't full yet - room for a few more boats!
Meeting up with LCC boats in the Veerse Meer
Barbecue on the staging

Early morning on the Veerse Meer, but the Scouts were up and sailing before 6

Waiting for the bridge into Goes

Inside the church
One embroidery  which was a part of ...
... an incredible tapestry - this was less than half of it!

And the children had done one too

Leaving Goes

Sailing with others always means photos of each others boats -

Sea Shantih

Melody

Atazoa

Red Rose
And it finally means that I can show you a photo of Andromeda sailing!

Chris worked it out eventually, I hadn't a clue!
Answer later on

Up before sunrise for the crossing

Sunrise over the North Sea

Xerxes sailing (with a little help from the engine!)

In the middle of the North Sea - shade and a puzzle book keeps me happy!
Talking of puzzles - have you worked out what the strange contraption was from earlier?  It was to hold a horse still while the farrier was shoeing it!

Coming to the end of a wonderful two months

Into Lowestoft harbour

Back at the LCC mooring

Sorry that was rather brief, but now that we are home I feared that the blog might not get finished - we are rather inundated with laundry, weeding and fruit-picking!

I wonder where we will go next year?
